CPL heeft zojuist in het volgende persbericht bekend gemaakt dat ze Q4MAX als mod gaan gebruiken voor het Quake 4 Winter evenement en alle Quake 4 toernooien onder de naam CPL in 2006 :

Throughout its history, the CPL has often used tournament mods as a way to enhance the core functions of its competition games, as well as adding needed features for those games. Today, the CPL and the Q4MAX modding team are proud to announce that Q4MAX is now the league's official Quake 4 tournament mod. The Q4MAX mod will be used for the $30,000 Quake 4 Qualifier to be held at the Winter 2005 Event and all other Quake 4 tournaments to take place during the 2006 CPL Season including the massive $200,000 Quake 4 Tournament, to be hosted at the CPL Summer 2006 Event. The Q4MAX team, lead by developers arQon, and Blowfish - respected for their works on such mods as OSP and CPMA for Quake 3, and PK++ for Painkiller - will be focusing on bringing core enhancements to the competitive community through the development of Q4MAX. Features include: bright skins, statistical enhancements, net code enhancements, demo enhancements, map packs and much more.
Dit betekend dat er weer verdeeldheid is, net zoals in het begin van Quake 3, toen CPL als enige q3comp gebruikte terwijl de rest van de wereld OSP gebruikte. Nu is hetzelfde een beetje aan de hand omdat GGL en Clanbase onlangs bekend gemaakt hebben X Battle te gaan gebruiken. The CPL Q4MAX
